We started with a small galley kitchen and combined it with the adjoining sitting room to form a large chef's kitchen with custom cabinets. This required relocating the plumbing for the 2nd floor hall bathroom to a new chase insulated for sound reduction. The main load bearing wall was removed and replaced with a recessed beam to open the view to the living room. Guests can now interact with those in the kitchen without being under foot.

Counter space increased from 28 square feet to 90 square feet. Storage galore with lots of drawer space. Two sinks create different stations for prep work and clean up. High end appliances include an induction cooktop with an exhaust hood that lets you cook and blow dry your hair at the same time. A wall oven with a side swing door and column Fridge/Freezer units for maximum storage.

A new powder room that looks like it belongs in a high end restaurant with floating countertops and art work that lights up via motion detector. New wide plank flooring throughout the main level along with tons of recessed lighting. Marvin Windows and Doors along with many other features. The home theater system was updated with in wall and ceiling surround speakers with the latest Dolby Atmos technology.
When this Falls Church Virginia client came to us their inspiration was a restaurant chef's table — a kitchen designed so family and guests could sit alongside the cooking area, watch the meal being prepared, and be part of the experience. They also wanted a departure from the typical white shaker kitchen that dominates Northern Virginia remodels, opting instead for a modern Tuscany inspired custom kitchen with rich custom cabinetry. What followed was one of the most complex and distinctive kitchen projects we have built in Northern Virginia — a T-shaped layout anchored by a 10-foot island facing the cooking area and an 8-foot chef's table that doubles as additional prep space or a buffet serving area. The centerpiece is a La Cornue 65-inch range — custom built in France with dual ovens, five burners, and a French plaque — paired with a 1200 CFM hood and pot filler. The scope extended well beyond the kitchen — the laundry room, mudroom, and butler's pantry were all remodeled as part of the same project, creating a fully transformed back-of-house that works as a cohesive whole.

Removed the soffits and hanging cabinets to create a more open feel. Additional cabinetry was added to increase storage. Refinished the hardwood to allow the cabinets to pop.

Our clients live in a smaller townhouse in Reston. They love their neighborhood and the amenities of Reston. They wanted to stay in their home but make better use of the existing space. They loved that we could re-imaging the space, open multiple load bearing walls and give them the kitchen they really wanted. This type of project is perfect for someone planning to stay in a home for 7+ years at a minimum. Initially it will seem that the remodel is expensive compared to the value of the home.

However you will not find an inner suburb home where the value of the home plus the remodel is equal to homes at the next level. Homes at the next level may not even have the updated amenities you want. So why not stay put, upgrade and over time the value of your home will catch up with the remodel. You will have many years to enjoy it! We also wanted to point out that when we open the old walls, the kitchen is only extended 2-3' outside of its old footprint. You don't need to take over all of the adjacent space if you want to keep a table or a nice size living room.

Opened the wall to the Dining Room, flush faced cabinetry, BlueStar range with 900 CFM hood.

This is one amazing transformation in a 1960s Springfield home. Our clients wanted to open it up wide inside.
First - get rid of the walls that framed in a tiny kitchen, dining room and living room.
Second - make the deck easily accessible via new french doors from the dining room.
Third - A new chef's kitchen with lots of counter space, storage and appliances that actually worked.
Finish it off with new lighting, refinished flooring and lots of little touches.
